Fortum Signs MoU With Nagpur Municipal Corporation to Develop Charging Infrastructure For E-Vehicles

New Delhi, November 14, 2017: Fortum India Private Limited, a subsidiary of a leading Finnish clean energy company Fortum Oyj, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nagpur Municipal Corporation to develop charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in the city. 

The MoU covers planning, designing, investment, operation and maintenance, and management of the charging infrastructure using cloud based system. Fortum and Nagpur Municipal Corporation will undertake the project in collaboration. The working arrangement for execution of the activities will soon be decided between the two parties.

“This MoU is the beginning of a transition to a new transformative mobility solution to provide clean, cost-effective, and efficient mobility services to the citizens of Nagpur. Leveraging its expertise in e-mobility solutions, Fortum plans to transform the mobility scenario in India. The Indian Government has a vision to achieve full electric mobility by 2030. Being a pioneer in providing charging solutions for electric vehicles in the Nordics, Fortum plans to extend their service and be a prominent enabler towards the achievement of this vision in India as well.” said Mr. Sanjay Aggarwal, Managing Director, Fortum India. 

The MoU was signed on November 12th in the presence of Hon’ble Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, Mr. Nitin Gadkari and Her Excellency Ms. Nina Vaskunlahti, Ambassador, Government of Finland to India.
