Sanjay Aggarwal

Mr. Sanjay Aggarwal is the President, Fortum India and Global Head for Solar at Fortum. Fortum has committed to invest 200-400 Million Euros in India and is current managing 435 MW of operational solar projects ( India), 250 MW Solar under construction (India) and 350 MW of solar projects under development ( other than India) .

With Solar as the strong foundation, Fortum also has ambitious plans to expand Bio2X, Charge & Drive & eNext businesses to India. Assam Bio Refinery Ltd ( ABRPL) is a joint venture with Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and Chempolis for building a biorefinery in Assam that aims at more resource efficient use of bamboo by converting bamboo into ethanol, furfural alcohol and acetic acid. This refinery is under construction and scheduled for commercial production by end of second quarter 2021. Charge & Drive segment responds to an increasing demand in e-mobility, by providing turnkey solutions for B2B and B2C, creating public charging network and providing world-class cloud solutions. This business is currently rolling out charging infrastructure across several cities in India. eNext focuses on providing NOx reduction solutions to thermal power plants in India thru primary method only thereby obviating use of ammonia and urea ( secondary method). He is on BOC ( Board of Commissioners) for a Fortum JV developing a waste to Energy plant in city of Jakarta, Indonesia.

Before joining Fortum, Sanjay was Chief of Projects, TATA Power, and led Project Development & Project Management activities in Coal, Waste Gas, Hydro projects – covering power generation, combined heat and power solutions, and coal mining – in North and East India.

With 33 years in the Energy Sector, he brings with him all-round expertise in Project Development, Project Management & Execution, Marketing and Sales of IPP/Industrial captive power plants, IPP Business Development, Developing BOOM/BOOT Models, Project & Structured Finance, Asset Management Services, Operation and Management agreements, creating new businesses and coal-mine development.

Sanjay began his career with Tata Motors and commanded leadership positions with Thermax, ABB, Wartsila India Limited and Tata Power. He has a wealth of multifaceted, multi-market experience, having
been a business leader in Indian and global energy companies. Sanjay has presented papers across business imperatives in various Indian and global energy forums.

He is an alumnus of Delhi College of Engineering where he majored in Mechanical Engineering; he specialized in Power Plant Practice & Automobile Engineering.

Manoj Gupta

Mr. Manoj Gupta is the Vice President Solar (Asia) for FORTUM in India since 2013 Prior to joining FORTUM, he has worked in various prestigious organization.

After having more than 6 years exposure in Industrial sector in Crompton Greaves, Manoj has dedicated himself in Renewable Energy sector (wind & solar) for more than 17 years and worked in various companies like Enercon, Suzlon, Acme & Hindustan Power.  He has more than 25 years of experience in Industrial and Renewable Energy sector. Manoj holds a B. Tech Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from NIT Calicut, Kerala.

During his career he has thorough exposure to Marketing & Business development of Industrial product and Renewable Energy (Wind & solar) project through acquisition, JV, IPP model etc.

Manoj has in depth knowledge of Power sector and knows the nerve of the policy and development of Renewable Energy business model, needs and emerging trends. He is credited with conceptualizing many Business Models, which have become the Industry benchmark and thereby helping the company he worked for emerge an industry leader in India.

Awadhesh Jha

Mr. Awadhesh Jha is the Executive Director of GLIDA (Formerly known as Fortum Charge & Drive India). He is a passionate electric mobility supporter and an industry influencer renowned for his thought leadership and ability to inspire global audiences. He is highly sought-after as a keynote speaker for conferences covering a wide range of topics, including charging infrastructure, technology solutions for smart mobility, battery swapping, sustainability, and the future of mobility. Additionally, he serves as an industry advisor, actively participating in policy discussions aimed at advancing the EV ecosystem. His speeches blend deep insights and passionate storytelling to inspire people to discover the impact electric mobility can bring to human generations today and tomorrow.

He has been working with Fortum since July 2014. Prior to Fortum, he worked with the Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India for 15 years followed by six years in Hindustan Power Projects Private Ltd where Awadhesh was instrumental in securing concession of hydro projects and its development.

Awadhesh has over 28 years of experience in the energy industry spanning across the Government and Private sectors. He brings with him first-hand experience in Policy formulation, Strategic Planning, General Management, Business Development, Project Development in PPP mode, Land Acquisition, Environment & Forest Clearances and its compliances, Contract Documentation & Management, Techno-Commercial Negotiation, Asset Management of Solar Projects, establishing and running a new business in Power Sector by assuming a leadership position in Private and Government sector.

Awadhesh has been instrumental in developing an EHS management system and procedures in Hindustan Power projects and for Fortum India as well. Sustainability Due Diligence and Supplier’s assessment of sustainability/EHS standards has been one of his strong areas.

A Civil Engineering Graduate, Awadhesh also holds a Master’s in Business Administration for Working Managers from IIM Lucknow.

Awadhesh is quite active on LinkedIn and shares his thought across various topics ranging from electric mobility to hydro to sustainability. In his leisure he likes to indulge in reading, watching Bollywood movies, cricket matches etc. During his college days, he was an avid orator and quiz participant.

Ashish Kumar Jain

Mr. Ashish Kumar Jain is the Vice President, Fortum India and heads the projects and Assets Management function for Solar at Fortum.

Ashish is an  experienced multi-skilled Power Sector professional with more than 31 years of rich and diversified experience in achieving strategic business objectives in the areas of Project Management, Project Planning & Control, Commercial Management, Contracts Management, Operations Management and Process Planning mainly in Power Sector.

Ashish has hands on experience in setting up systems of execution, commissioning, operation and maintenance and managing various problems faced while setting up thermal and Solar power projects

Before joining Fortum, Ashish was Senior GM, Lanco Infratech (EPC division)  and was responsible for execution of Combined cycled Power projects in India and abroad.  Ashish was also instrumental in setting up Planning and Controls function in Lanco for Planning, Scheduling and Monitoring of all thermal and Gas based Power Projects.

Ashish began his career with NTPC Limited as Executive trainee in 1988 and has worked in large Projects and Power Stations in different business areas such as Projects Execution, Operation and Maintenance, Planning and Systems,  and Project Development and gathered valuable experience.

He is graduate in Mechanical Engineering; he specialized in Power Plant Practice & Thermal Engineering.

Ashish takes keen interest in technological development and Structural changes in Power Sector in India.  He likes to spend his spare time in reading and contributing to social causes.

Ranabir Chakraborty

Mr. Ranabir Chakraborty is the CHRO for India and Global Talent Process Owner for Fortum. He is an HR, Organization Design and development specialist and taking care of Sustainability & IT.

He is a Bachelor of Engineering (Metallurgy) and a Management Graduate from Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. from XLRI, Jamshedpur. Mr Chakraborty is also an alumnus of Michigan University, USA, a member of NHRD and an intern of Sumedhas Academy for Human Context.

Prior to joining Fortum, he was working with Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemical Ltd. as Head – HR for Sales and Distribution function. He has also worked with Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL), Torrent Power Limited and Tata Group. He has over 16 years of experience in HR Strategy, Leadership Development, Culture building, OD, IR, International HRM, Industrial Engineering and Talent Management. Prior to that, he had 10 years of experience as production manager in Steel Industry.

At Fortum, his current responsibilities include identification and development talents of Fortum globally and designing and implementing HR and Industrial Relations strategy, Sustainability & IT in India.

His latest areas of interest are Socio-cultural Anthropology, HRD Systems and IR strategy.

In his earlier assignments, he also worked with National Productivity Council, Gandhinagar to develop and implement productivity-related work norms for technicians and supervisory cadre in Torrent Ahmedabad.

As an IR professional, he has handled flash strikes in SAIL and penned four settlements with Unions at the organizations he worked for.

A.S. Kumar

Mr. A.S. Kumar heads the procurement function and is the Vice President – Procurement for Fortum India and is responsible for purchases for setting up of Solar Power plants, Electrical Vehicle charging infra, Low NOx products and bio-refinery plants.

He has been with Fortum since December 2015 and brings with him extensive experience in  procurement, contract management, production management and procurement processes. He believes in Sustainable procurement practices and effective Supplier Relationship Management for mutually beneficial relationships. Implementation of supply chain software tools for best and competitive results has been his focus in all his assignments.

Kumar has been in the energy sector throughout his career and has a rich experience in both renewable and non-renewable energies. He has hands-on procurement experience in thermal, wind and solar power procurement.

Prior to his joining Fortum India, Kumar has been associated with Sembcorp Green Infra, Alstom Power (now GE) and ABB Ltd.

At Sembcorp Green Infra he was involved in investments of more than 500MW of Wind projects with focus on securing high wind sites, procurement negotiations and contracts. At Alstom Power, as Head of Global Sourcing, he was responsible for localization for boiler auxiliary component (PF Mills) for supercritical boilers.

Kumar has over 25 years of experience and is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate (B.Tech) with an MBA from IIFT, Delhi.

Prashant Kumar

Mr. Prashant Kumar is the Chief Financial Officer for Fortum India Pvt. Ltd.

ABRPL is targeting a larger production of  bio fuels in India, which would reduce India’s dependence on Imported Petroleum and lead to more efficient use of the bio mass. The plant is being designed to produce approx. 49,000 MT of Ethanol, 11,000 MT of acetic acid and 18,000 MT of furfural alcohol, using approx. 3,00,000 MT of dry bamboo annually. Also, the bio refinery will be based on the second generation bio refining technology, which enables selective fractionation of bamboo as bio mass, to be converted into ethanol and co-production of other products in a sustainable way.

Before being deputed to this JV, Prashant was General Manager – Business Development for the Solar Business and also led the Project & Corporate Finance activities for Fortum in India. 

With more than 15 years of diversified experience in Shipping, Banking and Energy sector, he brings with him cross functional expertise in Project and Corporate Finance, Financial Modelling, Treasury Management, Mergers & Acquisitions, Strategy & Business Development.

Prashant began his career with Nortrans Shipping, a Singapore based shipping company, as an Engineer Officer on-board Ship but soon forayed into Business Development and Finance domain after completing his Post Graduation in Management and successfully delivered business goals in Companies such as IndusInd Bank and Tata Power Solar before joining Fortum in 2014. Over the years, he has been instrumental in developing new business concepts, fund raising from various domestic & International Financial Institutions and handling strategic key accounts.

After qualifying IIT JEE, he pursued his Engineering from Marine Engineering & Research Institute, Kolkata. He is also an alumnus of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar where he majored in Finance.

Prashant actively follows currency markets and has interests in new financial technologies apart from Power & Energy Sector in India. In his spare time he likes to indulge in reading and outdoor sports.

Atishay Jain

Mr. Atishay Jain is the Head- Investments & Strategy, Fortum India. Fortum has committed to invest 200-400 Million Euros in India and is current managing 185 MW of operational solar projects & 250 MW Solar under construction.

With Solar as the strong foundation, Fortum also has ambitious plans to expand Bio2X, Charge & Drive & eNext businesses to India. A joint venture has been established together with Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and Chempolis for building a biorefinery in Assam that aims at more resource efficient use of biomass. In his current role with Fortum, he has the overall responsibility for investments, fund-raising, M&A, portfolio management, strategy and corporate development in India. As director on JV companies, he alongside his statutory directorship responsibilities is looking after investor relations and focuses on increasing partnership footprint.

Before joining Fortum, he was at CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory, (Standard & Poor's S&P subsidiary) which is a sector focused consulting company. He assisted strategic developers, financial investors, multi-lateral development banks, regulators, policy makers on energy related issues and was recognized as CRISIL’s Young Thought Leader for the contributions.

With 10 years of experience, he brings with him all-round expertise in investments, M&A,  corporate development, capital raise, portfolio management, strategy, risk management & investment advisory.

He is an alumnus of Management Development Institute (MDI) where he majored in Finance; he also holds Energy Risk Professional (ERP) certification by Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP)

Atishay practices value investing for personal interests, following Benjamin Graham, Professor Bakshi principles. In his spare time he likes to indulge in gaming, travelling and watching movies.
